JSON and YAML can both represent structured configuration, but YAML has indentation-sensitive syntax and can express features JSON cannot. A successful conversion confirms parseable input and output, not that the receiving application accepts every field.
Convert configuration carefully
Keep a copy of the source and inspect the converted result. Pay particular attention to indentation, strings that resemble booleans or numbers, and lists of nested objects.
- Paste the source JSON or YAML.
- Choose the direction of conversion.
- Review validation feedback and the converted structure.
- Load the result in the target application or its schema validator.
Keep in mind: Configuration files can contain secrets. Remove credentials before sharing examples or using external services.
