UUID version 4 identifiers are generated from random data and are commonly used as record IDs or test fixtures. They are designed to be unique with high probability, not to carry meaning or act as an authorization secret.
Use generated identifiers appropriately
Generate only as many IDs as your workflow needs and keep the standard UUID formatting expected by your system.
- Choose how many identifiers to generate.
- Create the UUID v4 values.
- Copy or download the output in the required format.
- Check that your destination accepts the hyphenated UUID representation.
Keep in mind: Do not use a UUID as a password, API key, or proof of identity.
