A photo can contain information beyond the visible picture. EXIF and other metadata may record the camera or phone model, capture time, exposure settings, and sometimes a location.
Inspect a photo before you share it
Choose a copy of the image in the Image Metadata Viewer. The tool displays common EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, and image properties that it recognizes. Not every image includes every field: location appears only when a device or app recorded it.
What details should you look for?
- GPS or location fields: these may indicate where the photo was taken.
- Date and time: a timestamp can reveal when an event or trip happened.
- Device and camera details: a model name may identify the phone or camera used.
- Visible clues: metadata is only part of the picture. A street sign, house number, badge, or recognizable landmark can reveal context too.
What if you want to remove metadata?
The KitQuvo Image Metadata Viewer is read-only: it helps you inspect the information, but it does not remove it. If you need a metadata-free copy, use a trusted image editor or your device's sharing or export options, then inspect the resulting copy again before sending it. The exact controls vary by device and app.
Keep the original if you may need its capture details later. Removing embedded metadata does not hide details visible in the photo itself, so review the image content as well.
Does inspection upload the image?
No. The viewer reads the selected file in your browser; your image stays on your device.
For PDF documents, the separate PDF Metadata Remover can remove supported document metadata.
